Special Notice: Self-Hosted Data & Local AI Processing

Because SynapseKeep is a self-hosted application designed for your private lab environment, it operates with a "Local-First" data philosophy:

  • Note Content: Your personal notes, notebook structures, and imported documents are stored in your local instance of SQL Server 2025 and are not accessible by us.

  • Local AI (Ollama): All AI-driven tasks—including text summarization, search prompt generation, and the creation of vector embeddings—are processed locally on your Ollama server.

  • Private Search (SearXNG): Web research and data augmentation are handled through your self-hosted instance of SearXNG, ensuring your search queries remain private and are not tracked by third-party search engines.

  • Identity Management: User authentication is managed through your local FusionAuth instance, keeping your credentials within your own infrastructure.

  • Data Sovereignty: Unlike cloud-based AI research tools, we do not have access to, nor do we store, the contents of your knowledge base or the results of your AI-augmented research.
